At CeLaVi, we choose materials that care for children as gently as you do. Our merino wool comes from 100% natural fibers, selected for their softness, breathability, and comfort throughout the seasons.
Merino wool is one of nature’s quiet wonders. It warms little bodies when the air is cool yet stays light and breathable when playtime begins. Its fibers can absorb moisture and release it again, helping your child stay dry, cozy, and comfortable from morning to bedtime.
What makes merino wool so special is the fineness of its fibers, measured in microns—tiny units equal to one millionth of a meter. The finer the fiber, the softer the garment feels.
For our CeLaVi merino collection, we use wool in the 18.5–21.5 micron range. These delicate fibers bend gently against the skin, creating a naturally soft, itch-free feel—perfect for babies and children with sensitive skin.
For comparison, a human’s hair is around 50 microns, far thicker and less flexible.
This fineness gives our garments their comforting softness and natural stretch.

100% Merino wool
Our pure merino wool quality is knitted in both 1×1 and 2×2 rib structures to create a naturally stretchy, beautifully soft fabric. With a weight of 190 g/m² and a fine 18.5-micron fiber, this material feels gentle against delicate skin while offering excellent breathability and comfort.
The rib construction allows the garment to move with the child, making it ideal as a next-to-skin layer for everyday wear.
Merino wool blend – Interlock double-face
For children with extra-sensitive skin, we developed a unique double-face interlock fabric that combines superfine merino wool with viscose. The outer layer is pure merino wool, 18.5 microns, 240 g/m²—chosen for warmth, breathability, and natural temperature regulation.
The inner layer, resting against the skin, is silky-soft viscose.
This thoughtful combination offers the benefits of merino wool while ensuring that the wool fibers do not touch highly sensitive skin. The result is a fabric that is warm, smooth, and exceptionally comfortable—perfect for children who need an even softer touch.
Soft brushed merino wool
Our soft brushed wool, sometimes called heavily brushed wool, is designed as a luxurious second or third layer. The fabric is brushed to create a super-fluffy, warm, cloud-like surface that feels inviting and comforting to wear.
With a fabric weight of 280 g/m² and a 19.5-micron wool fiber, this quality provides excellent insulation and a soft hand feel—ideal for cooler days and outer layering pieces.
Because this fabric is worn over other layers, we select a slightly higher micron that enhances durability while maintaining a beautifully soft finish.
Heavy knit merino wool
Our heavy knit merino is crafted from 100% wool and designed to feel comforting, warm, and long-lasting. Because this garment is worn as a mid- or outer layer, not directly against baby’s skin, we choose a slightly higher 21.5-micron merino to add strength and durability while still maintaining a soft and comfortable feel.
The knit structure changes from season to season — giving each collection its own character, while the yarn quality and micron thickness remain the same.

Fine merino wool blend
This delicate quality is made from a 50% merino wool / 50% viscose blend, combining natural warmth with a silky softness and fluid drape. Using a 19.5-micron wool fiber, the fabric feels light, breathable, and exceptionally gentle to wear. Designed for comfort close to the body, it offers a soft hand feel and a refined structure that moves beautifully with the garment.
